ING Fame Game

App backend for the ING Fame Game where players could print their profile posters and have it mailed to them. The backend made sure the image was print ready and send all the details to the printing company.

ING Fame Game

For Fonk Mobile, we made the backend for the ING Fame Game. In the app, there was an option to get your pimped profile send as a poster. The server would get the raw image data from Flash, where after we made sure the image had all the information and the right format in order to automatically send it to the server. Since our code run on ING's servers, we needed to make sure everything was as secure as possible.

Huiswerk.af tries to redefine the way students do their homework. With direct feedback, incentives and handwriting recognition, we hope to make homework faster and smarter. I did a lot of research and development for this project, including ways to peer Huiswerk.af with Wolfram Alpha. Together with Sipta, I rewrote a big part of the server software of the demo to make it more stable and fast.

Jumbo App Backend

A multi app backend for all Jumbo’s apps. Multiple servers, Couchbase clusters and load balanced webservers ensure the best possible performance.

Since the backend had to be sufficiently fast to host multiple app's, we chose for a multiple node Couchbase database server configuration, whose data was served by load balanced servers. Utilising our own small framework we only included the absolutely necessary code to keep response times low.

Xanedo

Xanedo gives you insight about your electricity, gas and water spending. Connecting to a vast amount of on the marked sensors, like the new "Slimme Meter", it is a simple tool designed to save you money and contribute to a better world.

The sensors we use to collect our data send a lot of data every few seconds to our servers. I was responsible for creating a high efficiency backend to connect the sensors to our webapp and collect the data for tens of thousands of sensors at the same time. To connect Xanedo with the government issued "Slimme Meter" I used C# to connect to the SOAP service and pull in the results for all the customers using the device.

Hardware.info

One of the best Dutch hardware related sites. It needed a big change in order to keep up with the growing number of users.

Hardware.info

Hardware.info is one of the biggest Dutch hardware communities with a huge product and store database. I worked on a complete rewrite to keep up with the fast growing amount of new users. An custom framework and lots of MySQL query optimisations where needed to ensure the smoothest page loads even under heavy load.

PGGM Inkomensambulance

During my internship at Mediamonks I worked at the interactive video the "PGGM Inkomensambulance" for PGGM & Steam.

PGGM Inkomensambulance

Using Flash, I created a script that could recreate the corner pin effect that we have in VFX in Flash. That way, we could place CGI 2D tracked elements into the interactive video. A mailing was to be send with a special link that could get the customers data. This data got added to the video, for example in the text on the trailer and the namesign at the door.

Consool was a site where people could host their own audio/video consults via webcam. Consultants could schedule and hold conversations via webcam.

Consool was an app where consultants could schedule and hold conversations via webcam. Because server resources where slim to none, I used peer-to-peer connections from Flash and the RTMFP Cirrus service to break trough NAT networks.

FietsNL is a website about everything related to bicycles.

FietsNL

FietsNL is a website about everything related to bicycles. It features an custom CMS based on the Zend framework. Bicycle shop's and sponsors have their own login to easily edit their page and spot on the dealer locator. Although this site is a tad older, it has all the social media links like commenting with your Facebook profile and like/share buttons.

Ashes of Mankind cannot so easily be defined by a single expression. One cannot simply call it a ‘sandbox game’ as that is but a small part of what the game truly is. Instead, AoM is an entirely player-driven experience, moulding violence and politics alongside typical sandbox elements to give it a unique flair. I'm one of the C# coders and shader writers who are building this awesome game.

Our graduation project for my Interactive Media & Visual Effects course at the Dutch Filmacadamy. My job was to oversee the usage of the live previsualation equipment and to build the 3D for the forest sequence with a few classmates. The forest was build using Houdini's instancing tools. For the live on-set previs we used Lightcraft's Prevision setup.

Het Leven Volgens Nino (Life According to Nino) is a Dutch children's movie about a boy that while coping with the death of his mother, learns that he can communicate with animals.

During my time on the set of Het Leven Volgens Nino for Shosho, I was responsible for the gathering of data for the post production crew and giving advice about how to minimise the work needing to be done in post. Among the data that I collected was camera and lens information and HDR images in order to recreate lighting for the CG elements.

A short made by third year students at the Dutch Film Academy. Homunculus featured a 1,5m tall puppet that we used on set. In the post production process, our VFX team made the eyes move and removed the puppeteer from the frame. I was responsible for the VFX team and the eyes of the puppet.

Snow White is a commercial to promote language diversity for Elia. We won the first price for Best Video on Multilingualism at the Language Trough Lenses festival in Berlin.
During the shoot of this commercial I was the VFX Set Supervisor to overlook the shoot of some elements that needed to be retouched or extended by the VFX team.
